so today was a good day. elijah took a great morning nap - almost 3 hours! i wasn't expecting that so i was putzing around the house getting small things done, hopefully this pattern will continue. i'd love it if he was a long napper! abby watched her "i can read" dvd and talks about the words that she sees. we do her flash cards most days, but i forgot today. then around 1 a friend of mine and i had our first visit with our mentor. it was great! we talked about being a mom of young children and discipline, training, and what that can look like in our homes. it's so nice to have someone to talk to that has been through what we are both going through and has a heart for God and raising their children up in the Lord. i felt very blessed and it gave me a lot to think about.

November 8, 2008
abby, silly little thing, at dinner tonight could not stop thinking about the blender that sits on the bottom shelf of our baker's rack. she kept telling me that it was going to get her. it was going to get her bottom, then her elbow. i kept reassuring her that it was not and that all it does it make cookies and cake. even up into bed she kept thinking about it. so we talked about where God is when she is scared - He's right here with us and all she had to say is Jesus protect me and he will. i told her she was safe in her bed and that she was safe with mommy, and she added and "i'm safe with daddy".
then i asked her what she wanted to thank God for. she couldn't think of anything, this is a new thing we are doing. so i asked her if she was thankful for daddy, "yes". her blanket, "oh sure". elijah, "oh sure" again with a smile in her face. paused as i was trying to think of others then she says "thankful for abby"? and i said, "yes, I am very thankful for you!" so we left it at that. she rolled over with bunny and horsey tucked in her arms and snuggled in saying night mama.
now it's time for my quiet time and then off to bed.
